GTN produces and manages Traffic Radio on behalf of the Highways Agency and Transport for London.
Traffic Radio is unique in broadcasting six regional streams of “as live” rolling traffic news around the clock. It transmits on 31 local DAB digital radio multiplexes - more than any other station - as well as via the internet, and on a ground-breaking AM Restricted Service Licence at The NEC near Birmingham.
Our reporters are based in the control room of the National Traffic Control Centre near Birmingham, at the heart of the HA’s operation. From there, we have access to information from 3,750 road sensors and over 1,000 CCTV cameras. This is supplemented by reports from HA staff on the roads, the police and our fleet of planes.
