Global Traffic Network UK

ABOUT

Global Traffic Network United Kingdom supplies free, bespoke travel news for radio, using top-quality reporters, aircraft and cutting-edge technology. Radio stations fund this by letting us sell adverts next to our reports.

We launched in October 2007, based in Plymouth, London, Oxford and Birmingham. We combine a team of UK radio travel news professionals, with experience and expertise from our successful established operations in Australia and Canada.

In April 2008, we won the multi-million pound contract to operate the digital radio station Traffic Radio for the Highways Agency and Transport for London. We now have a team of dedicated reporters based at the National Traffic Control Centre who update the station around the clock.

In February 2009, we entered into a definitive share purchase agreement to buy the commercial division of UBC Media. UBC’s commercial division supplies traffic and travel information to around 230 radio stations in exchange for commercial airtime inventory. The acquisition requires, among other things, shareholder approval. If the conditions are met, the transaction should be closed in early March.
